Welcome to Chaiya Meditation Monastery

The Buddhist Rain Retreat is one of the monastic observances having its origin in the time of the Lord Buddha.   The day following the Asalaha Puja Day (Pali) is called "Lent Commencement Day".  This day marks as the beginning of the Buddhist Lent.  It will last for three lunar months, and this year will end on Tuesday, October 27th, also known as Awk Pansa Day.  During this Rains Retreat, monks (Sanghas) are confined to a certain place, preferably a monastery, for a period of three month. This practice was originally intended to keep Sanghas from traveling during the raining season and tromping crops.   Please come join us on July 29th Asalaha Puja day, and July 30th, Beginning of Vassa, at CMM and call us at +1.702.456.3838 for more detail for these events.
