Welcome to Chaiya Meditation Monastery

The monastery accommodates a resident Sangha or community of fully ordained monks and nuns, who aim to set an example of the practice of the teaching in accordance with the Teachings of the Buddha.   CMM was founded on the 4th of December 1995 by Ajahn Chaiya, and his disciples. The purpose in founding this monastery is to present the Theravada Buddhism in its original essence not only to the Thai, Burmese, and Lao communities, but also to American of all background.

CMM also seeks to demonstrate the Teachings of the Buddha that can benefit society through its many diverse services and community-oriented activities.   Through intensive meditation, Dhamma talks, and Dhamma classes, practitioners from around the world engage their minds and hearts to develop inner stillness, concentration, and a deeper understanding of themselves, others, and the world.

By grounded this wisdom, the practitioners engage the world with great concern, compassion, and kindness toward others.   In Addition, the monastery also aspires to bring the Buddhist values of compassion, tolerance and non-violence to the present world.
